Unmotivated but moving along

First, I want to acknowledge the passing of Todd Gunther, of the blog Arteejee, and spouse of the belated Ann Marie of From My Brain to My Mouth, whom we lost last year. While I did not know Todd as well as I knew his wife, I had the pleasure of meeting him at a blogger get together a few years back, and it was a true joy. I will miss them both in our blogger community and in my life.

I have been struggling with motivation to do anything even remotely productive, from chores to blogging to cooking. I’m not depressed, I’m not bored, I’m not anything that I can think of that would explain my lack of motivation to do anything more than lay on the couch and watch TV and Movies and bounce around on-line. Sure, it’s friggin’ cold out, and so I don’t want to be outside (not that there’s anywhere I want to go even if I wanted to be.) Today, I tried to change that. After breakfast, I left the remote where it was, got out of the living room, and started a few small projects around the house and.

First, I threw some beans, tomatoes, spices, and veggies in the crock pot up, so it could cook all day for some hearty vegetarian chili for dinner.

Next up, we needed to get some sunshine in the house:

Next, I installed some battery operated press-on lights in the downstairs guest “bear” bathroom to hi-lite our growing Poke-A-Bear collection:

Next, I headed downstairs to do some displaying of some new collectibles and rearranging of my office bookshelves, now that we’ve freed up space by replacing most of our DVDs and Blu-Rays with digital copies of our movie collection in iTunes.

My Kenner Super Powers collection (on the left) continues to grow. I now have 27 out of the 33 figures produced. And the legion PVC set (on the right) was my last PVC set I needed to complete my collection of DC Direct PVC sets. The Captain Atom (in classic costume in the corner) is just a random fun addition to my collection.

With some free book shelf space, I finally had a place to display my Marvel and DC Chess Sets, which have sat in their boxes for years:

I had two more of the press-on lights I got for the bathroom above, so I decided to use them here:

It definitely makes my home office more fun:

And, finally, Debra from She Who Seeks made me realize I have failed to show some proper Marvel love on my blog so, for Debra, here’s some more of my Marvel mayhem:

  1. I love what you did to the basement. I will do something like that with the home office once I get this place I’m living in rebuilt.
