“…I couldn’t help but wonder…why is it that we’re willing to write our own vows, but not our own rules?”
– Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City The Movie)
Good question!
Do you think of yourself as open minded and accepting?
Do you accept people for who you discover them to be?
Some people will try to tell you how to live, how to love, who to love, what to strive for, what to disdain…in effect, they will try to impose their rules, their beliefs, their way of life on you. They will apply pressure to get you to conform, fit in, keep up appearances and behave “appropriately.” And the moment you stop living by their rules, they may shame you, shun you, and shoot you down.
But it’s really a blessing in disguise: those people are chains that imprison you and keep you from becoming who you are.
Live how you want. Love who you want. Love men, love women, love both, or love neither. Love one person, or love many. Be free. Be naked. Be kinky. Be kooky. Express yourself. Find your own inspiration or inspire others.
Whatever – whoever – you are or decide to be, make sure it’s who and what YOU want to be.
Those who mind, don’t matter. Those who matter, don’t mind.
Who knew that being yourself could be such an act of rebellion?
I love you just the way you are and I NEVER want you to change! 🙂
so how is key west?
