Two (Ginger) Snaps for awesome!

It has been a very busy week – work is ramping up, and we have been cleaning and rearranging furniture this week to prepare for the BFJs visit and Operation: Decoration this weekend. I am already exhausted just from prepping. Given how I feel after just prepping for it, I can only assume the actual decorating will kill me.

In other news, I recently received an email from an Idler (which is what I call folks who read and follow my blog, FYI) Ginger, (I’ll wait for you all to sing the inevitable phrase in your head – I’m sorry about that, Ginger) a dear reader (Idler) who apparently not only manages to tolerate my drivel on a regular basis, but admits to it. She asked if she could send me something in the mail she was sure I would like. I lightly feigned protest (as one must do in such circumstances to appear less materialistic and greedy,) but I was too intrigued to refuse her offer, so I gave her my address and – VOILA – a few days later THESE showed up at my house:

Truth be told, I had no idea these awesome things existed, so I researched them a bit and here’s what I found out about them:

“Celebrate the birth centennial of cartoonist Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000), whose “Peanuts” characters are some of the best known and most beloved in all of American culture, with this new set of 10 Charles M. Schulz First Day Covers. Each #6 ¾ envelope is affixed with a Forever® stamp cancelled with an official First Day of Issue  postmark.  Ten different stamp designs showcase Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and other unforgettable friends from the most successful comic strip in the history of the medium. Bright colors and whimsical drawings bring to life the magic of the “Peanuts” gang.  The postmark features everyone’s favorite beagle Snoopy. Also included is the date and location of stamp issuance: September 30, 2022, Santa Rosa, CA 95402. Made in the USA.”

I absolutely LOVE these, especially because they feature my favorite Peanuts character, Franklin, who seems to be getting featured in more Peanuts collectibles now (FINALLY!)

I also have to mention that Ginger made me aware of a house in her neighborhood graced with this little overdoor image:

Now, of course, I have to :

  1. Find out who lives there.
  2. Convince them to sell their house to me.
  3. Come up with money to buy another house.
  4. Move.
  5. Find a job in NYC.

Although, I suppose it would probably be a lot easier and less expensive if I just painted the same image over my door here at my current house, but I’ve never been one to take the easy way.

Thanks Ginger! You are now a Gold-Star Idler. (And I’m holding you to that offer of Cocktails in the City, some day!)

  1. Oh WOW! I must get to the post office and acquire some Peanuts stamps for myself. Thank you Ginger for informing Sassy, and thank you Sassy for informing us all about the existence of such wonderfulness.
I agree that you need giraffe art of that nature over your doorway. I know there’s a name for that kind of art thing, but if I ever knew what it is, I’ve since forgotten.

  2. I would be delighted if you followed through on the plan to get another house, if only because then maybe you could get a more pleasant job than the one you are stuck with for the next 1291 days.

  3. Tell me you’re not getting ready for the big C word already?!?!?!?!!??!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!

I think if you want to just play with balls, I have a set you can play with!!!!!

Meanwhile I have no idea why, but the giraffe arch above the door reminded me of the day I went to Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown, not far from where dear Anne Marie lived. I feed giraffes that day and I’ll never forget it. Boy are their tongues wet and very dark. And they had the prettiest eyelashes. I adore them too. It’s the reason a friend and I are planning a trip to Giraffe Manor, a giraffe sanctuary in Nairobi.
