Those who have been here awhile know I am no Dr. Spo when it comes to decorating for, or celebrating, Halloween. I wasn’t even a fan of handing out candy and, in fact, used to shut off lights and hide out in the quiet and dark on Halloween to avoid having to do it. The one Halloween thing I did enjoy every year is watching “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
But, when we moved into this house 10 years ago, we decided to be good neighbors and hand out candy each year, until 2020 when COVID hit, and we discontinued the practice for safety/health reasons. After some discussion, we’ve decided to get back in the game this year. (Full disclosure: My Mom comes over and hands out the candy. While she’s doing that, we sip cocktails on the couch and watch Halloween themed movies.)
Our Halloween decorations consist solely of a small light up pumpkin and small light up green 3-eyed monster, which we haul up from the basement each year and display in the window on Halloween night to let kids know they can get free candy here.
But I came across this awesome wooden decorative sign while shopping in Peddler’s Village two weeks ago and HAD to have it.
I will put it out on the porch, possibly with a small spot light, on Halloween night to greet the Trick or Treaters. I thought the white letters on the white background got lost, so I bought some black paint markers and colored them in.
I think it looks much better this way.
I hope this isn’t a slippery slope….

Black letters definitely look better on that sign. I won’t be partaking in Halloween this year. I live on a busy street and last year no kids dropped by. I’m assuming it will be a quiet evening at my place.

Your Linus/Great Pumpkin display will look great under a spotlight! And yes, it’s a slippery slope. I predict that by next Halloween, your house will be featured on one of those “massive freaky haunts of the USA” shows! And that’s a good thing, LOL!

Looks much better!!!! Halloween in my favorite holiday and t is huge business in New Hope the closer it gets to Halloween. It’s such a big night that all the street s in New Hope and Lambertville close because of the swelling crowds of trick or treaters and revelers in costume. I’m in in New Hope to visit friends this weekend for four days. Ill probably still smell your scent, lol
