Worst-press

WordPress is at it again. I re-created the exact same blog post twice in a row today and WordPress wiped it out both times. It posted the title each time, but none of the content and all the content (text and images) disappeared. I’m frustrated because I don’t know why it’s happening so I don’t know what to do differently to prevent it from happening again. I guess I’m going to have to start creating my blog posts in word so that I can repost it over and over again until it takes. What makes it a bigger pain in the ass is that I have to re-insert all of the images over and over again which is very frustrating. Maybe it’s time to start looking for a different blog host. Grrr! Argghh!

We are watching season four of “Stranger Things,” having watched and been a fan of season one through three. I’m not as thrilled by this season so far, but I’m intrigued enough to keep watching. Perhaps the big bad of season four is what’s infecting WordPress, because it seems to really enjoy torturing its victims.

Sigh.

  1. Blogging woes are such pains? Isn’t the big selling feature of WordPress that you can actually contact one of their IT people for help/advice and they will actually respond? Unlike Blogger, where no one helps you, ever, and there’s no way to contact them in any meaningful way.

  2. I wish I had answers for you. My WordPress workflow is unorthodox, because I find the web interface mostly horrid.

Do you compose your brilliant wise posts using a desktop or laptop computer? If so you might consider one of the desktop apps: https://wordpress.org/support/article/weblog-client/

Alternatively, my understanding is that WordPress interface has a “classic” editor and a “Gutenberg” one. I do not know that switching the interface should change whether posts get uploaded, but it is worth a shot.

Do your drafts get saved consistently?

  3. Gah. I put a link in my comment and WordPress put it in the moderation queue. It is not the worst press (trust me) but it can be irritating.

  4. I think WP has been doing that for quite some time. For the last few years, I’ve been using Open Office’s writing app to do my rough drafts and then I’ll copy and paste everything over once I’m good with the edits. Sorry to hear you lost two posts this time.

  5. Sorry for your blogging problems. Sometimes I find that when I insert photos they won’t insert. And sometimes they do! I used to have (years ago) a blogger account, but I got frustrated with that and switched to wordpress.
