We started de-decorating Sunday. I wasn’t planning on starting so soon but the mood hit and once I got going, I couldn’t stop. I’ve been working on it for 3 days and we’re about 75% done. We just have 3 trees to de-ornament and dismantle, then outside lights. Not bad progress for only 4 days into January.
But I’m old and tired and my knees and back hurt from all the bending and moving so I have to take Advil every day.
Tonight, we celebrate our progress with cocktails. Jeffrey’s having his usual (Tanqueray martini) but I’m having a Gimlet with Rangpur Tanqueray. It’s rather lovely!
75%? I didn’t think you’d be done till at least St Patrick’s Day!

If only big jobs like that could be accomplished by waving a magic wand!

Not much dismantling Christmas decorations here. Just put away two ceramic Christmas trees.

You sure make fast work of the de-decorating. I figured that would have to be a week-long project. Tanqueray must help.

I always feel sad when I take down Christmas decorations. I didn’t decorate this year, mainly because I still miss my partner (may he rest in peace) and I just didn’t have it in me. But typically, taking down the decorations is a melancholy moment for me.

It would be for me if I didn’t love our year round house decor as well. I’m sure it’s harder this time of year for you. Sending love and hugs your way.

I have to take at least one Advil every day for my back pain. Advil works for me, Tylenol doesn’t.

I had forgotten how many decorations went up this year. That’s impressive that so much is already done.

I am not a fan of taking down decorations either.

It’s a lot of work putting them up and taking them down, but we enjoy them so much it’s worth it.
