One Magic Moment

After an arduous final day of work before the holidays and our staycation, we scurried to prepare for our evening…treats were prepped, dinner was made, fire was built, music was played, and tomorrow’s packages were placed beneath the tree. Santa always stops here early to drop off our gifts. (Might be for the Christmas Cosmo I have waiting for him, but I think he just likes us a lot.)

Despite all this, the real joy and magic was the moment we settled into the sofa, pups snuggled between us, fire crackling, music playing, fingers entwined in a lazy yet meaningful clasp and, in response to my deep sigh having finally made it to this moment of peaceful relaxation, Jeffrey squeezed my hand and I squeezed it back…a silent old married couple saying, without words….

…you are still the best give I ever got.
