Happy Adoption Day, Rita Mae!

6 Years ago today, the only girl I’ve ever loved, Rita Mae, came into our lives.

This was the original add we saw on line announcing she was available for adoption. (They named her “Issy” for the posting)

(I didn’t see this add until after we had brought her home.) I walked in the room full of dogs behind a wire fence, and her nose was poking through the chain link. It was love at first sight. She was so quiet and demure. And continued to be so for  2 more years, until she found her voice and chutzpah and now she’s just a bundle of barks and energy and love.

To celebrate, I made a cake and icing (from scratch, thank you very much.) Here she is waiting for her special treat:

Little brother Harvey got in on the treating, too.

At least she cleans up after herself.

We are so glad we were lucky enough to give her a forever home.

Thanks for 6 years of unconditional, unending love, Rita Mae!

  1. Happy anniversary day for yesterday, my dearest R.M. Be ever so happy that you’re safe in the nicest possible home with the two dearest daddies you could ever have hoped for, you lucky, LUCKY girl!

  2. So precious! I didn’t realize she’s been with you for six years. That’s longer than I thought. She’s such a special pup, and I’m so happy that you all are together now.
