Now that the kitchen construction is done, it was time for Jeffrey and I to work our magic and reclaim our home. We don’t have the same wall space we had before, but we still have enough to put up some of our favorite signs:
We know what Steve Walker piece we want for this wall over our quaint kitchen table, so for now our click will be the placeholder.
We were surprised to discover our appliances are magnetic (the last stainless steel appliances we had were not) so we got to put up our dry erase board (essential for our grocery reminders) and a few of our favorite magnets (we decided not to put up all 60+ magnets we had on our last fridge.)
It was nice to bring a pop of color in with some of our counter “jewelry” but, again, we went with a scaled down version of our last counter.
We are trying out a “unique” idea for our back door “valance” – we used a home made bear flag made for us by a friend. I think I like it. It adds some whimsy to the kitchen – and we’re nothing if not whimsical!
Poor Rita was stressed by all the kerfluffle – too much movement, too much noise, not enough lap time or cuddling, so she spent the bulk of the day on the back of the couch.
After the last surface was dusted, and the last item was placed, we decided we’d earned our favorite kind of evening. A small fire…
…and, of course, cocktails. (Gin Martini for Jeffrey, and a Cosmo for Sassybear, since you were wondering.)
It was a busy and exhausting weekend, but we are elated to have our home back and in order!
