Right on! Sounds like a definition of the Pope (as well as most religious ‘leaders’) – and ANY of the Popes in history. Despite the adulation he gets wherever he travels in his little red slippers it’s just as well that nobody, except the most blinkeredly devoted, pays him the blindest bit of attention as regarding their own lives.
Indeed! Reminiscent of the definition of Puritanism as the vague and disquieting fear that someone, somewhere is having fun.
like the GOP and the catholic church…
