Life in-between

It is easy to get caught up in the obligations of life. Work, chores, errands, bills, etc. Most of our time seems to be spent taking care of the mechanics of our lives, without actually living, and enjoying, our lives. Vacations are great, holidays wonderful, celebrations special … and all of it can be important. But it is also important to remember, enjoy, and appreciate the small moments. The moments we laugh together, comfort one another, relax, rest and enjoy those conveniences we’ve become accustomed to. Warm, dry homes. Hot meals. Snacks. Entertainment. Loving pets. And, if we’re luckier than many, time with people we love, who love us back.

My weekend has been full of these great moments of laughter, fun, comfort, affection and…if I’m being honest, a little bit (a lot) of abundance.

I don’t know if I “deserve” any of it…but I sure as hell appreciate it.

Appreciation for the “big” AND the “small” things in life shows maturity, in my opinion. Any simpleton can appreciate going on a big fancy vacation, but a mature person will also appreciate finding a forgotten $1 bill in a pants pocket, or a cold glass of water on a hot day.
