Cold Comfort

I have today off. Due to the new time regulations in my office, my normal pass day, which would have occurred last Friday, got moved to today; so, while others are trudging back to work in the frigid temps this morning, I am home with hubby and dogs for an extended holiday break. I have not made solid plans for how best to enjoy and/or utilize the day, but I’m hoping a plan formulates during my coffee infusion and couch cuddle session with the pups. Although it can be very difficult to tell these two I need to stop lounging with them so I can be productive:

As the start of a new calendar year seems to be a natural time to reassess and refocus, I have made a list of projects I want to do in the house, separated into “winter projects” “spring projects” and “summer projects.” Many of the projects require funds we do not have available to us (electrical and repair work) but there are a plethora of organization projects that only require my time and motivation to get done.

Then there is the usual list of self improvements I wish to work on: lose weight/get in better shape, draw more, crochet more, pay off more debt, blog more, and find a new job. These are not so much resolutions as reaffirmations of continuing efforts to do better at all of these.

For the moment, however, I am content to be safe, sound, warm and lazy, pondering my projects while petting puppies and contemplating changes while clutching my coffee mug.

I will be off work tomorrow and should do some of the same planning you described. Let’s face it: if you don’t plan it, you won’t do it. Happy new year to you, the hubby, and pups!!

Don’t make me come to Upstate NY, take you to the gym and make you do a workout so hard, you’ll be typing blog posts with your toes. You know I’ll do it too. 🙂

Let me inject something into the hugging your coffee mug and the dogs…Start to think of your perfect job, what it would entail, what it would consist of..and how to go about getting there. We all go through this from time to time..Do a little soul searching and think about the things that make you happiest..and then think about a way to turn that into your dream career. The reall problem is you go to a job..that alone is enough to make you want to hit the snuzz button and stay in bed…take care my friend..enjoy your day off.
