After a long, rough week, we had a night of couch surfing last night and finally watched the final episode of this season’s “Doctor Who”, which caught us both off guard and made us a bit teary eyed.  Fortunately, I’ve been so absent from the interwebs lately,  I had no clue about this episode and was thoroughly surprised. I don’t mind things that happen that I may not like, on shows I watch, as long as it’s done well and the story is good.

To continue my geekfest today, after we got up at 6:30 to be at my Mom’s for a delivery of her new mattress and box-spring we bought her and then had lunch with some of the guys, we went into Albany to pick up my comic book stash. I currently collect and read 31 titles a month. I used to get my comics every week, on a Friday, lock myself away in my room, and not surface until I’d read them all twice, no matter how long it took. Now I (try to) get them at east every two weeks, stash them away in my office upstairs, and read a few here and there as I am able, but I’m almost always behind a month or two. Having an active social life and two dogs does not allow for the time I once had to sit around and read, uninterrupted, for a few hours.

This is my current unread stash: the ones on the left are leftover from the last month or two, the ones on the right are from today:

Also, while I was at my comic shop (Earthworld Comics) I saw something that I ALMOST resisted buying, even though I wanted it ever so badly. However, I made the mistake of opening and closing it and that was all it took to push me over the edge and so I plopped down the coin for it. Isn’t just the coolest? A Tardis Cookie Jar (from Doctor Who, for those who don’t know.)

Here’s a little video of what it does!

As the temperatures have dropped, we’re both pretty tired from a long week and early morning, and we have a busy day tomorrow, we are planning on staying home with the puppies for the remainder of the day and evening.  I hope to get a lot of comic reading in, possibly by a roaring fire with a glass or five of wine. Assuming I can a.) stay awake b.) get a break from a rambunctious chihuahua puppy and dauntingly affectionate Jack Russel and c.) ignore the incoming texts asking us to join in on any number of social activities, I should know just what Green Lantern and Batgirl have been up to.

Wish me luck!

  1. Is it bigger on the inside so it holds more cookies? 😉

I’m happy to see the Ponds go (not my favorite companions), and I really like the way the story wrapped up. It left a question in my mind as to what about Rory’s dad. Which luckily was answered by this: Be prepared to sniffle a little more.

Get stuck into those comics. You’ll be tested later! – alternatively, a well-crafted essay would be nice.

you have such a happy life.
