Lest my recent posts make it seem like I’m in a downward spiral of depression and hopelessness due to my ridiculous string of health problems, I assure you, I’m doing pretty well emotionally, considering. It’d almost be funny, if it wasn’t such a drag on my life, time and social life. But I – actually “we”, since it impacts my husband’s life as well – are handling it as well as can be expected, going about our day as I take meds, apply ointments and heating pads, wear braces, elevate body parts and avoid alcohol, all in attempt to return myself to a semblance of healthy so I can get on with life as usual.
A few tidbits I’ll mention:
I was given a singer sewing machine, yesterday, from (by?) my cousin. I was hesitant to take it because I have not used a sewing machine or sewed at all, really, other than re-attaching buttons, since I took Home Ec in high school. I also was hesitant because we’re still on a purge and downsize mission in our home and this is the first thing we’ve brought into the house since we moved (not counting our little backyard table set.) However, it’s small and in good condition and fits nicely, out of the way, on the back porch, AND my friend Mark has promised to teach to me to use it, so we shall see what comes of it. Perhaps I can become a long distance apprentice of Spo?
I start back on my IWS (Individualized Work Schedule) today, so I’m back to working7:00-3:30/7:00-4:15workdays with a pass day to look forward to every other Friday (my next one being next Friday.) Woohoo!
I’m still avoiding Facebook and mucking about a bit on Google+. Juries still out on where it may all lead. I am surprised at how much I don’t miss obsessively checking and posting.
As I mentioned, it’s hot here. 95 degrees with 50% humidity. I’ve heard co-workers say it’s like soup outside. I am staying at my desk for lunch, in the air conditioning, and playing with my iPad, avoiding my usual lunch time walk, as I don’t wish to get drenched in sweat, something I’m prone to do in any temp higher than 32 degrees F, and humidity greater than 0 percent. The next 3 days are supposed to be 98, 96 and 95. I’m missing my pool quite a bit right now.
See? Nothing exciting going on. You’re missing absolutely nothing! For lack of any real interesting content, I present to you an iPad photo shoot of me, today, at work, posing with my highly fashionable wrist brace!
