Off to see the wizard

My fever seems to have subsided for the most part. My thermometer stopped working two days ago so I’m going on how I feel, but it had been getting progressively lower and more sporadic. My energy levels have not bounced back so much, although walking across the room no longer wipes me out. I had foolishly hoped I just might be well enough to grab a blanket and chair and attend a back yard firework viewing at a friends for the 4th. Unfortunately, my body’s not done punishing me and I woke yesterday morning with an intestinal block that left me in pain for most of the day and evening. It finally resolved itself around 8:00 pm, leaving me relieved and both hungry and afraid to eat. I had some night sweats last night (they had stopped for the most part) and the cough seems more infrequent.

Today I meet with the infectious disease specialist. I’m not as sick as I was when I made the appointment (of course) but I’m still hoping he runs some tests or has some theories or does or says something useful. Mostly, I hope he determines whatever I had/have is on its way out. I’d like to get back to work and start trying to get back into my life again. I still have to address my urethral strictures (Friday) and the pain in my right calf (which has lessened since I started wearing the compression stocking) but if whatever virus or infection has caused my fever and fatigue has made like Elvis and left the building, that’s enough progress for me, health wise, to end my 4 week pseudo-quarantine and get back to living again.

Here’s hoping.

  1. Well, I am glad you are beginning to feel better! But I do hope they are able to identify what has caused all of this and get to the root of it. Being ill is no fun, and not knowing when it will end just makes the situation worse. Wishes for health going out to you!

  2. As you advised me during my recent medical problem, please take the time to allow your body to recover from all this. Don’t try to do too much!! My mother had a similar mystery virus (or bacteria) and it took her months to fully recovery from it.
