For months I heard (and joined in the chorus of) complaints about the cold, sunless, snowy winter. People longed for sun and heat and cursed the low temps.
These past 2 weeks the summer has hit full force. Temps in the 90s with humidity to match. Our move was done on one of the hottest days and, even with 2 air conditioners running full blast, full time, the new house was just bearable, perhaps only in comparison to outdoors. (Did I mention, besides losing the fab house and pool, we lost central air with the old place? Sigh…) We’ve gotten it to a very comfortable temperature now, but the house still has pockets of cold and heat and we’re still figuring out the best way to distribute the cool air throughout the house so the temp is more balanced and consistant throughout the rooms. Outside is like an oven and I walked to work this morning and arrived…glistening.
However, I have not complained once.
But all around me, people are whining about the heat and how it’s brutal out and wondering aloud when it’s going to cool down. The very same people who were upset at how cold and snowy it was just a few short months ago. Yes, ideally we would never experience extreme temps or weather conditions. It would only ever be chilly or warm, sprinkle a little, snow lightly, yadda yadda yadda. But nature is not a thermostat. And I’d still take this weather over ice and sleet and snow any day…
…even if I do have to wring out my hanky every ten minutes and sit naked in front of the AC rubbing my man parts with ice.
