I am still buzzing from the after glow of an amazing birthday. I did nothing to plan anything for my big 4-0 but my husband and friends did not allow the day to pass without making me feel like I was the king of the world. From the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed, I received FB messages, e-mails, texts and phone calls with birthday wishes and touching words of love and friendship. I have never felt so loved in my entire life. Ever. My co-workers planned a spider-man themed birthday party at work, took me to lunch at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, El Mariachis’s (see picture above of me in the Birthday sombrero) and my husband planned the perfect evening, a nice dinner at one of my favorite sushi places, Ichiban, with my closest circle of friends, and I just couldn’t help beaming with pride about the people in my life and the man at my side.
I did get some fantastic gifts, one no less special than the others (a gift certificate for a home cooked meal and cocktails at a friends’ house, gift certificates to favorite restaurants and stores, a an ipad…you know, little things from the heart) but some of the things that touched me the most yesterday were tributes from these three bloggers:
and a nod from this, the newest in my blogger family:
Robin at Life in Queue
What a shock and surprise to be featured and mentioned on each of their blogs, and to read their words and to struggle to grasp that I was the guy they were talking about. It made me realize how stupid I can be sometimes, allowing one or two people to make me feel worthless when I have this whole community of friends and bloggers who constantly make me feel like I’m somebody important. And as long as I have all of you in my life and the friends and my husband that are part of my world, I am and will be.
Thank you all for making me realize, once again, how rich and successful I am, not because of money or a career, but because of the people I have gathered around me.
Happy Birthday indeed.
