Acre Mornings

My favorite time to be home is early in the morning, when the hubby is still asleep in bed and, more often than not, a house guest remains sleeping in the guest room upstairs, the neighbors haven’t yet begun to rouse and disrupt the morning quiet, and it’s just me, my mug o’ joe, and my two amazing dogs enjoying the back yard, the cool morning air and the peaceful sound of birds and perhaps a far-off hail from a neighborhood hound.

These are the moments when nothing is complicated, nothing hurts, no bills loom, no chores are waiting, no debates are raging, no obligations are weighing me down. It’s just a precious moment in time when I am free of everything but pure contentedness and appreciation for my home and pets and life.

The moments are rare and far too short, but I’m grateful they happen at all.

  1. I am enjoying the same thing now… but will come crashing down in about 10 minutes when the brother comes in and dogs bark and harass him while he trims hedges and helps make the yard look good….happy saturday….
