Rut’s Up

Our colds linger. It hasn’t helped that we’ve had some family obligations that have prevented us from nursing our colds and resting as much as we’d like. Hopefully, we’ll get to do so the remainder of the week. I have a social gathering at my house Friday evening, so I hope I am feeling better by then, as it’s too late to cancel (and I really don’t want to, anyway.)

I am covering a vacationing peer at work this week, so my work load has been heavier as well.

The weather has been rainy and damp the last couple of days, which is sort of good because it broke the heat wave we were having and the trees and plants we just planted this past weekend are getting water.

We had to crate Harvey twice yesterday. Once while we were at work during the day and shortly after we got home and let him out, because we had to head back out to a family dinner. We had arranged for him to be crate free for much of the afternoon but our dog sitter had to cancel, so he wound up only getting an hour break between crate shifts. I was wracked with guilt and we stayed up very late to compensate, so Harvey could have more exercise and play between crating and bed. Despite that, our routine was too disrupted and he did not go to sleep last night which means none of us got any sleep last night. I won’t make that mistake again.

We have started season two of “Downton Abbey” and are still enjoying it, although to a much lesser degree than we did the first season. We’ve been told Season three is better than Season two. Here’s hoping.

Try not to be awed by our awesome, spectacular lifestyle.

  1. Yes, I’d like to echo Erik, S/b. You’ve got the incentive for a rapid recovery so I hope that makes it happen all the sooner.

I know exactly how you feel about ‘crating’ Harvey. I’m going away for a few days next week for the annual visit to my big sis. Having my pussies put in a cattery does not mean I won’t be thinking about them – a lot. Even though they’ll be out of earshot, the thought of them sulking in their cages, thinking that I’ve betrayed their trust, will invade not only my days but my trying to get nocturnal sleep too, feeling guilty as sin.

Downton Abbey? Everyone seems to have seen it other than me – and liked it immensely. I’ve not seen even a part of one single episode. How’s that for a ‘badge of honour’?

Have a lovely, friendly Friday evening.

  2. A loving family, a beautiful home, committed husbears, lots of friends and family, yada, yada, yada. I’ll play my microscopic violin as soon as I can locate it. Maybe Jonathan Kidd, Commander of the Proteus will help me. :)
